Chapter 18
Hanna
What in godâs name has happened to me?
Delicious.
My face was burning with shame.
Ok, perhaps I had been staring a bit too long at the woman. She was sculpted, like an actual greek statue, her body was the perfect blend of soft and hard. I imagined her pulling me against her, while her fingers worked inside me strong and deep.
No wonder that dumb thing came out of my mouth. Honestly, I would almost feel embarrassed about my own body if it wasnât that I had caught her staring at me several times without any attempt to hide it, really.
A player gotta play, I guess.
Still, it was flattering.
âWhen did you know?â I asked, eager to break the growing silence.
âKnow what?â
âThat you liked women?â
She seemed taken aback by the question. Good, two could play at that game. âI guess itâs always gone unsaid. I have two sisters, and while one was running after every man she could find, the other was doing the same but with books. I liked neither, and just did my own thing.â
âIs that code for playing the lesbian field?â
âAccording to the familyâs legend Iâm still a virgin, so whoâs to know? Certainly a gentlewoman wouldnât say.â She said with a smirk.
I knew she was a player. She was too handsome not to be, and I felt silly for even thinking that a woman like her could entertain the thought of..well, me.
Artemis seemed to notice my embarrassment at the revelation. âThere was only one woman I loved though,â she said, looking at me. She was staring deep into my eyes, as if searching for that memory from the depth of my own brain.
âWas it..?â
âYes. Her name was Callisto and you are right, I had forgiven her a long time ago, because I did truly love her.â
There was a moment of silent as a meditative moment quietly passed between us. I didnât understand what she meant fully nor was I expected to. But I knew in that moment something precious had gone through us, and for a second, I thought Iâd seen the real Artemis, not the player, grumpy version of her.
And then that moment was gone.
âHow about you?â She said, breaking the silence.
âI found out later. Uni, as cliches go. It all made sense at once.â
She smiled. âLots of fun, I imagineâ
âNot as much fun as one with friends to ride away with might guess.â
âWe all had a wild youth, didnât we?â
I chuckled. The electricity between Artemis and I was crackling loudly. I lay in the water, floating through the current. There were no clouds and my hand shot up to screen my eyes from the blinding sun.
I felt alive in the water with her. I had the feeling of being.. familiar. Exciting and comfortable. Wild and safe. I no longer saw her as the hard shelled untouchable woman I had met, but more like the tender cored human I longed to get to know better.
In the end it was Artemis who left the river first, the ripples of water falling of her skin like beads of pearl.
